My principal, Jill Radford has resigned from her position due to Noyce's inability to treat JMS equally.
It will take a while for me to see the sunshine again. However, I'm very grateful for Levi's support in this. Any positive thoughts coming our way will be very appreciated. :)
As sad aa it is for you to lose your boss in Jill Radford resigning from being principal of Jean Massieu School under the Utah Schools for the Deaf and Blind, I admire Jill in her action. She has kept her promise that she would quit if Steve Noyce would continue as Supt of USDB.
ReplyDeleteJill is RIGHT when she says Steve has not treated JMS fairly. He has taken away students, funding, and positions. When JMS needed a playground, he said NO. When money was tight, he renovated a bldg on the Ogden campus which was for the exclusive use of those families who were in the Listening and Spoken Language program, leaving out those families who were in the American Sign Language /English Bilingual program.
He donated $440,000 of USDB funds to the Utah State University Speech Dept (without authorization from the USDB Advisory Council) while ignoring the needs of JMS.
It is indeed a sad day to lose a great principal but Jill is also a leader with courage, passion, and vision. She will truly make a powerful advocate for Utah's Deaf and hard-of+hearing children.

I think she's doing a very brave thing by leaving and making such a bold statement. I think it will be even more important for those who are left behind to continue the fight to make things better at JMS. Steve is powerful, but he's not God. There are a lot of people looking for ways to support you guys. Let us know how we can help.
